I think it would be fair to say that the winter of 2009/2010 was the harshest winter the Houston area has seen in decades. Amazingly, the first week of December 2009, Houston actually saw SNOW! It was the earliest recorded snowfall in Houston and, as if to show what a momentous occasion that was, the Weather Channel's Jim Cantore actually came in to town and broadcast from downtown Houston in the middle of the snowfall.

While Tomball didn't see much actual snow, the following morning, the whole neighborhood was sparkling with frost.

Of course, all this just served to get me in the mood for Christmas decorating. Worrying about which plants had survived the "Great Freeze of 2009" and which hadn't would have to wait for spring!
